The president of the Institute for Children and Adolescents of Uruguay (INAU), Pablo Abdala, pointed out that the agency approved the expansion project of the CAIF Plan, for the years 2022, 2023 and 2024, whose objective is to assist 17,000 children between 0 and 3 years. For this year the quotas offered will be close to 4,000, through the opening of new centers or expansions.
Abdala told the Presidential Communication, in the framework of the launch of the Initiative Funds for Children and Adolescents, that this is possible thanks to the budgetary reinforcement ordered by the Executive Branch and approved by Parliament in last year’s accountability.
By 2023, more than 50 centers and 130 extensions will be inaugurated, and a similar figure is projected for 2024.
In another order, Abdala explained that at the launch of the 2022 edition of the funds, 90 awards were given for projects presented in 2021 and that the objective of the initiative is to promote the participation of children from the age of 6 and adolescents, from all the country.
Those interested have until Friday, July 8, to submit projects. Young people up to 24 years of age may participate, provided they do not represent more than 25% of the team, with initiatives linked to sport, art, recreation and the improvement of a public space. They have already been presented from awareness days about the rights of children to the remodeling of a square.
At least two projects per department and per region of Montevideo and Canelones will be awarded.
Finally, Abdala said that each of the awards will be assigned between 45 and 90 readjustable units (UR), about 140,000 pesos, to finance the proposals.
