An investment of 128 million dollars has been earmarked for various projects to be developed by the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) in the Ngäbe Buglé Comarca.
During the pandemic, several projects have been prioritized; one of them in the District of Besikó, with an investment of $20 million, given the importance of the road as it connects various communities; Other projects tendered, above $40 million and that are already beginning the execution process, are the Chumico-Tolica highway, Cerro Iglesias 1 and Cerro Iglesias 2, which are in the environmental impact study phase.
Several MOP officials will travel on May 5 to the Ngäbe-Bugle Comarca to formally start construction.
According to the Ministry of Public Works, they have tried to prioritize the needs of the region through different assistance programs, but the residents of the area have protested the conditions of the roads and the long distances they have to travel to reach the schools, a situation that has weakened communication between the authorities and the community.
