The Special Commission for the Selection of Candidates for Magistrates of the constitutional Court handed over to the president of CongressMaricarmen Alva, and to the Board of Speakers the final report of the public contest that concluded with the list of six eligible candidates to be the next constitutional judges.
The six finalist candidates who are ready to submit to the verdict of the 130 congressmen are the following: Humberto Morales Saravia, Gustavo Gutiérrez Ticse, Helder Domínguez Haro, Imelda Pacheco Zerga, Manuel Monteagudo Valdez and César Ochoa Cardich.
Each of them must obtain at least 87 votes from the plenary session of Congress in order to assume the position of magistrate of the Constitutional Court.

Congressman José Balcazar Zelada (PL), president of the special commission, reported that, unlike other selection processes, this time no complaint has been made about the public contest because it has been carried out with technical and transparent criteria.
“Now it is up to the National Representation to cast its vote, if all or part of it (of the list of candidates for the TC) is approved. We have fulfilled our task with the presentation of the final report to the president of Congress and the Board of Spokespersons”, she pointed out.
Currently, five of the six magistrates who make up the full Constitutional Court have expired and, therefore, could be succeeded by one of the applicants classified for the final stage.
