Nafta rises $3 and diesel $5 from April 1, announced Lacalle Pou

The President of the Republic communicated the increase in Mercedes, when touring the city affected by the storms on Tuesday.

President Luis Lacalle Pou announced an increase in fuel prices from next Friday, April 1st.

The president said that in the case of gasoline the increase will be $3 and in the case of diesel, $5. He made the announcement in Mercedes, while touring the areas of the city affected by Tuesday’s storm.

Lacalle Pou highlighted the government’s effort to adjust the price below the percentages set by the Import Parity Price (PPI) report from the Energy and Water Regulatory Unit (Ursea).

The March report made by the agency marked a rise of $7.54 pesos in gasoline and $15.22 in diesel. Ancap’s latest report recommended an increase of $5 in gasoline and $10 in diesel.

The Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, Omar Paganini, said at the time that the Executive was seeking to avoid a “very strong” rise as the reports suggested.
