About 12,600 voters from Carapebus, in the north of the state of Rio, return to the polls this Sunday (7) to choose the new mayor and the deputy mayor. Former mayor Christiane Miranda Cordeiro (PP) was removed from office after having her candidacy rejected by the Electoral Court, for rejection of accounts by the City Council in 2017.
Three slates are contesting the by-election in Carapebus: Bernard Tavares Didimo (Republicans), Leandro Drummond Esteves, Dandinho (Avante) and Edward Ferreira de Araújo Filho (PMB).
The polling stations will be open from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. As measures to avoid contamination by covid-19, there will be no biometric identification, the presentation of the identification document to the polling station will be made at a distance and the use of mask will be mandatory in polling places.
