Morena in the Senate demanded that the National Electoral Institute (INE) present its strategy to inform Mexican residents abroad, mainly in the United States, how they can participate in the revocation of the mandate. Also, the senators requested that the local public organizations (Oples) report, together with the INE, the actions to promote the participation of Mexicans abroad in this consultation.
The morenista senator Adolfo Gómez Hernández, accompanied by legislators from his bench, expressed in the Upper House the concern of his parliamentary group because the next February 25 is the deadline for the registration of Mexicans living abroad who want participate in the revocation process.
Similarly, he stressed, March 10 is the deadline for Mexicans residing abroad to register and participate from abroad in the elections that will take place in Oaxaca, Aguascalientes, Durango and Tamaulipas.
For example, he pointed out, Oaxaca is one of the states with the highest expulsion of migrants, mostly from indigenous peoples, and the Oaxacan community is one of those that sends the most remittances to our country.
But if they do not register in the registration system to vote from abroad, if they do not have the necessary information and support, they will not be able to exercise their right to political participation, and we will not be giving them the place that really corresponds to them

For this reason, he added, it is very important to remember that it is the obligation of the INE and local public bodies to promote participation and provide the necessary facilities to Mexican citizens residing abroad, so that they can participate and exercise their constitutional right to vote.
Due to the above and “to make sure that the boycott against the mandate revocation process does not extend beyond the borders, we demand that the Senate request the INE and local public bodies to report on the actions carried out to promote participation and guarantee the vote of Mexicans living abroad; both in the process of revocation of the mandate and in the local electoral days, which will take place in 2022 in the states of Aguascalientes, Durango, Oaxaca and Tamaulipas.
