Provisional arrest for five people from ‘Operation Fénix’ for alleged human trafficking


During the judicial act, held in the district of San Félix, the controls of the surveillance, monitoring and exceptional search procedures carried out within the operation were also admitted.

Five people (two Panamanians and three Nicaraguans) will be provisionally detained as part of the Fénix operation carried out in the province of Chiriquí. These people were charged with alleged links to the crime of illicit human trafficking.

At the hearing, the Public Ministry was represented by prosecutors Reinier Rivas and Odelda Ostía.

The Fénix operation was carried out this month in the border cord between Panama and Costa Rica up to the district of San Félix, where these five people were apprehended who allegedly collaborated and facilitated the irregular entry of 17 Nicaraguan migrants, among them, a minor of a year old All of them entered the country irregularly; at the time of the incident they were kept inside a bus on a commercial route.
