After his statements to the press, Machado left Petare. The truck in which he was traveling was surrounded by people linked to the ruling party who began to hit the vehicle and its windows.
María Corina Machado, candidate for opposition primary elections, denounced that she and part of her followers were victims of attacks by violent groups linked to Chavismo, during a rally called for this Saturday, July 15 in Petare, Caracas. However, she stressed that this intimidation strategy of the Maduro regime will not stop “the strength of citizens determined to defeat them.”
“We are aware that this fight that we are giving is a fight for the union of Venezuela and to defeat a tyranny that has dedicated itself to spreading terror and violence. We have all seen what is happening here in Petare, where the hundreds of Venezuelans who came to meet with us today were threatened, intimidated by armed groups that we know were sent by the regime to make us give up what is our determination”, assured the opposition leader from the La Línea sector.

But the altercation started long before. The supporters of Chavismo reached that sector of Petare and demanded that the opposition leader leave the place. They claimed that she, in the past, “has asked to invade her country.” They even had banners with messages of “sell homeland” or “murderer.”
The mob prevented the activity in support of Machado, who leads the polls of who has the most support for the opposition election, from taking place, despite the fact that she has had a political disqualification since June 30, when the deputy from First Venezuela jose brito informed that the Comptroller General of the Republic sent him a communication indicating that Machado is prevented from holding public office for 15 years.
The own followers of the national coordinator of Vente Venezuela continued their walk as far as they could, although they could not reach Barrio Unión. They carried signs that said “Petare empowers María Corina Machado.” And, as usual, the well-known “lord of the parrot”, Rafael Araujo, wore one that read “Come Petare, the neighborhood with the most hearts in Caracas.”

In less than 24 hours, the Vente Venezuela team has denounced two attacks by “groups affiliated with the regime” of Maduro, since a tour carried out on Friday, July 14, in Vargas also registered a confrontation among a group of civilians who pushed and threw objects at the militants of that political party, identified by the organization’s distinctive blue shirts. That time the complaint was made by the Twitter account of the Human Rights Committee of Vente Venezuela.
