The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office Since this morning, he has been leading raids on 15 properties for the alleged favoring of a biodiesel contract for US$74 million between Petroperú and Heaven Petroleum Operators, a company owned by Samir Abudayeh.
The assets seized belong to the lobbyist karelim lopezthe general manager of Petroperú, Hugo Chávez, and Abudayeh, among others investigated.
Another of the raided properties is the Government Palace, where the meeting between Abudayeh, Chávez and President Pedro Castillo was recorded in October 2021, prior to the signing of the contract that took place in November of the same year.
Castillo also has an open investigation for this case, but the Nation’s prosecutor, Zoraida Ávalos, decided to suspend that process until the head of state finishes his mandate.
Faced with the scandal, Petroperú annulled the contract with HPO last December. However, in a new call for the purchase of biodiesel, the same company again won the tender, this time for more than US$80 million.
