They try to kill a young man at the 181st Street train station in Upper Manhattan

Several similar incidents, robberies and assaults have occurred at other stations in the city in recent hours.

NEW YORK.- Users on the different train lines in this city of New York already exceed three million passengers per day, an increase in serious crimes is also reported.

A 19-year-old girl, presumably Dominican, was stabbed this Thursday by an unknown person at the train station 1 on 181st Street with Saint Nicholas Avenue, in the Upper Manhattan.

According to the police, the subject approached the young woman asking for the time and she ignored him. Then he stabbed her. The young woman was taken to the hospital where she is recovering. The man fled and is being pursued by the police.

Two days earlier, at the same station, a subject set fire to a shopping cart with garbage and introduced it into a train car 1. Likewise, a man was savagely beaten with a pipe by two unknown individuals.

Several similar incidents, robberies and assaults have occurred at other stations in the city in recent hours.

Last Wednesday Timothy Thomas, 23, cornered a 21-year-old girl in a corner of the E train to sexually abuse her. The incident happened near the train stop on Canal Street. The incident occurred at about 10:00 in the morning. He fled and 48 hours later he was arrested.

He faces charges of attempted rape, sexual assault, forcible touching and unlawful imprisonment.

A woman died a few days ago after being pushed onto the subway tracks at the Times Square station in Manhattan. The attack in the morning hours was apparently random.

In addition, the police are following in the footsteps of an unknown person for attacking a couple of employees of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) inside the Prospect Avenue subway station in the Bronx.

These cases show an increase in crimes in the public transportation system of 75% so far this year, compared to the same period of time last year, according to data from the police.

The mayor himself, Eric Adams, has proclaimed that even he does not feel totally safe traveling on the subway.

The NYC subway system, with its 472 stations and more than 1,070 kilometers of tracks, is a visible indicator of the safety and economic health of the Metropolis.
