At night on Sunday, February 5 there was a confrontation between presumed antisocials and state security forces in the Las Tejerías area, Santos Michelena municipality in Aragua state, after the criminals attacked the local Bolivarian National Police (PNB) headquarters with grenades.
In addition to attacking the presidential command post, installed by the landslide last October, they seized the toll that connects with the Centro Regional Highway, presumably to prevent the arrival of reinforcements in the Las Tejerías area. After several hours, the criminals retreated to the mountains.
The armed attacks are attributed to the Tren de Aragua, a criminal gang that has spread to other countries and is based in the Tocorón prison, just over 67 kilometers from Las Tejerías; and the gang operated by Carlos Gómez, alias “el Conejo”, who gave refuge to several criminals from the gangs that operated at Cota 905, including Carlos Revete, alias “el Koki”, who was killed by the authorities in 2022.
