The Metropolitan Eagles closed the year in the best way by achieving their second consecutive win by beating the Los Santos Astronauts 4 runs to 1 in the last game of the 2022 season of Probeis.
The game was tied without a run until the fourth inning when Eduardo Thomas hit a triple and then scored with Abraham Rodríguez’s hit to make it 1-0 for the Águilas. In the fifth episode Gonzalo Galástica connected with a hit, pushing Pedro Aguilar with the tying run by the astronauts, but the Metropolitans’ response came in the seventh when Ozziel Sánchez with a double boosted two runs to take a 3-1 lead and in the eighth inning they added one more stripe for the 4-1 victory.
“Thank God one more very important victory for qualifying aspirations and over a direct rival that is close to us, I hope that for the final stretch the team will continue at the pace it is, the pitching is doing its job, the offense is well and that we maintain that rhythm, I think it will give us success”, said manager Sebastián Arroyo after the victory of the Eagles.
Ozziel Sánchez was the best at bat for the winning team by connecting for 1-for-4, a double and two RBIs; Pedro Aguilar went 2 for 4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, while Eduardo Vaughan went 1 for 4 with a run pushed. For the Astronauts Abraham Rodríguez went 4-2, a double, an RBI and a stolen base and Eduardo Thomas went 4-2 with a triple and a run scored.
The winning pitcher for the Águilas was Gilberto Chu and Luis Ramos was credited with the saved game, charge with the defeat Eduardo Rodríguez, third pitcher used by the Astronauts.
The teams will take a few days off for the New Year holidays and resume activity on January 3, 2023 when the Águilas (7-9) face the Atlánticos (11-5) starting at one in the afternoon and at the second game the Federals (11-4) will face the Astronauts (2-13) from seven o’clock at night both games at Rod Carew Stadium.
