After the fire that destroyed the Tienda Inglesa branch in Punta Shopping, the supermarket chain decided to set up a store in the parking lot that is located opposite and that was inaugurated this Thursday.
In addition to the inauguration of the premises, a sample was presented next to the premises called “The art of resilience”.

It is an exhibition in which ten artists from Maldonado created works from the remains of the fire. Each of them reflects that any obstacle, no matter how big, can become a new beginning.

What is observed is a destroyed and rusty car, to which the artists placed a plant.
There are also rods and other remains that kept the now non-existent structure of the English Store standing.
Painting by Daniel Cardoso
One of the works is entitled “Ola desde la ash”, and was created by Daniel Cardoso. As described, it is an “oil painting executed on wood previously impregnated with a paste made with ashes from the English Store fire.”
The exhibition, which will be available at the branch until February, was curated by Miguel Zerebny, and with exhibitions by artists Daniel Cardoso, Celsa Burgueño, Mario Giacoya, Esther Modernell, Andrés Alvira, Meram Saá, Rodrigo de Castro, Silvy Martínez, Raúl Sampayo and Verónica Vázquez
For the artist Celsa Burgueño, it was the opportunity to get “something good out of something bad.” “Show that in art we can transmit a good message. For her part, Alvira said that they took the proposal without having the dimension: “When one is summoned for an activity, the artist’s head begins to work from that moment but when you find with the reality of what you see changed all our expectations. Giving it new life through art is our passion.”
