The country is going through the last long weekend of the year in the midst of a strenuous heat wave with highs that have exceeded 47°C in some regions of the country, which has led to an increase in the consumption of Energy.
To try to appease the heat, citizens use fans, air conditioners and other electrical appliances that have a high level of energy consumption. Energyso that the electrical grid it becomes overloaded and, in some cases, causes service to drop.
This situation has led to the registration of a new consumption record Energy for a holiday: 22,631 MWa peak that was registered at 11:10 a.m. and that exceeded that registered on January 6 of this year: 22,361 MW.
However, during that day, on which Three Kings Day was celebrated, when the peak occurred, the temperature was around 27°, while this Friday, in the City of Buenos Aires, 36°C was recorded with a thermal sensation of 41°C.
This, without a doubt, has caused household appliances to be turned on to cool down the environment a bit and try to cope with what will be the hottest day of the week and for which the SMN (National Meteorological Service) decreed a red alert in the AMBA and 10 more provinces.
But today’s record is not the only one that was presented during the week, since last Tuesday (business day) a peak of 28,283 MW was registered in the City at 2:43 p.m., according to data from the Electricity Market Administration Company Wholesaler (CAMMESA).
Likewise, in the city of Córdoba, where 41°C was exceeded this Thursday, there was a record of electricity consumption, which caused the interruption of the service in at least twenty neighborhoods.
How to avoid power outages
Given the high demand for electric servicethe networks are overloaded and cuts are generated, a situation that could occur this Friday due to the intense temperatures and within the framework of the match between Argentina and the Netherlands that will be played at 4:00 p.m., since there will be devices on all over the country.
To avoid cuts, the authorities recommend using the air conditioning at a maximum of 24°C, keep houses closed during the day, especially between 10:00 and 17:00; unplug appliances that are not in use, close the refrigerator tightly, use low-consumption appliances, use the washing machine when the temperature drops, and turn on lights only when necessary.
