Mexican actor Pablo Lyle found guilty of manslaughter in Miami

OnCubaNews

A Miami jury found Mexican actor Pablo Lyle guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of 63-year-old Juan Ricardo Hernández, in what is often described as a “rage at the helm” incident”.

The death of the Cuban occurred in March 2019 when the actor was heading to the airport in the company of his family. In an intercession, Lyle’s brother-in-law apparently made a wrong move that upset Hernandez. Both got out of their cars, argued, but when they returned to their vehicles, the Mexican actor got out of his car and hit Hernández hard in the face. He fell to the ground, hit his head and died four days later.

After the incident, Lyle did not stay at the premises and fled to the airport, where he ended up arrested after being identified by a witness to the tragedy. He was sentenced to house arrest until the conclusion of the trial.

At this Friday’s hearing, the jurors received instructions from the judge They had to decide whether Lyle was guilty or innocent. It took about three hours to reach its conclusion. Now the actor faces a maximum of fifteen years in prison, mitigated by the three he spent under house arrest with an electronic shackle.

The sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled nor has the felony categorization conference that determines the terms of the sentence.
