The ambassador of Venezuela designated before the Russian Federation, Jesús Rafael Salazar Velásquez, presented this Friday, in Moscow, the copies of style before Sergey Alexieevich Riabkov, vice foreign minister and in charge of North American and Latin American affairs of the Foreign Ministry of the Eurasian country, said a note of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela.
Salazar Velásquez is a graduate of the Bolivarian Army. He served as Minister of the Office of the Presidency and Monitoring of Government Management and director of the Strategic Security Center. He replaces current Foreign Minister Carlos Faría, who has held the position since February 2017, as head of mission in Russia.
In the coming days, the Venezuelan diplomat will present his credentials to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

After the delivery of credentials by the Venezuelan official, both parties reiterated their commitment to maintain relations of strategic partnership.
Also, during the meeting, both officials expressed that Venezuela and Russia maintain a solid relationship of solidarity, while highlighting the “firm mutual support on issues of defense of state sovereignty and basic interests of the two countries,” said a note from the news agency TASS.
At the meeting they reviewed issues of mutual interest for Venezuela and Russia, and agreed to work intensively on the bilateral agenda, including the preparation of the next High-Level Intergovernmental Commission (CIAN) between the two countries, scheduled to be held in Caracas next December.
Similarly, they stated and described “the steps towards a closer mutually beneficial cooperation in the commercial and economic, investment, scientific and technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres that would be resistant to external pressure.”
