Maduro: The FTAA was a colonization threat to the economies

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, celebrated this Monday the 19th anniversary of the fall of the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA), where he assured that this bloc was a threat of colonization towards economies and cultures.

The head of state illustrated that the attacks on our America began when the American hegemon brought neoliberalism with the coups d’état, of Videla, Pinochet, Bordaberry and with the coup d’état long before the dictatorship that was imposed in Brazil in the year 64, in the coup d’état against the great Joao Goulart.

“It was the great test for them in South America, to sink their deep claws into the economic domination of political, cultural and general hegemony of a model, without a doubt, neocolonial,” Maduro emphasized.

He said that the intense fight against neoliberalism really starts with force when we move from the bipolar world “and comes the collapse of the Soviet Union and the entire system of force that had been called socialist, and the United States of North America and the West, its vassals. , their satellites, believed that the time of single thought had arrived, that the time of infinite hegemony had arrived, and they tried to impose their colonial model on the entire continent through the FTAA.

Maduro pointed out that Commander Chávez always remembered that the FTAA used the word Freedom to mask the truth of domination, of colonization. “The agreements that this organization proposed really meant the absolute destruction of the economic apparatus of our entire continent.”

He stated that the battle against the ALCA “meant an arrival point and a starting point. “A point of arrival of the fight that we gave from the working class, popular movements, against neoliberalism.”

“The strength of the people will prevail”

On the other hand, the National President warned that imperialism and its satellite countries intend to impose a new model: “neofascism.”

“Let no one doubt that the FTAA model was neocolonial, from an economic point of view, the model that Milei, Noboa, and the North American empire want to impose in Venezuela is a fascist model,” he denounced.

He stressed that although imperialism tries to impose a fascist model through political figures, as well as seeks to provoke destabilizing events in the region, the strength of the people is what will prevail.

Summit of the Americas Mar del Plata

Likewise, the Dignitary recalled the Summit of the Americas, Mar del Plata, Argentina, in 2005, led by Commander Hugo Chávez and Néstor Kirchner who came together to confront this neocolonial model accompanied by the people, “Who can forget the presence of Hebe Bonafini? Our dear Hebe; by Daniel Viglietti, with his songs; of Ramsey Clark, the eternal Dignity Prosecutor of the United States; of our Diego Armando Maradona, and Commander Chávez,” he recalled.

In this sense, Maduro sent a greeting to the working class of Argentina, known as the Central de Trabajadores de la Argentina (CTA) and to the social movements, highlighting that Caracas, Venezuela, is the “capital of rebellion and struggle.”

“Argentina, led by Néstor Kirchner, was the epicenter of a historic battle on the path towards the independence of our America. It is an effort that must be maintained with the same intensity with which we obtained that great victory 19 years ago,” he stressed.

On this basis, President Maduro urged to continue the fight for solidarity and self-determination of the peoples of Latin America.

Finally, he sent a message of support to the social movements in Argentina.

“My greetings to the social movements of Argentina. Argentina standing, Argentina in battle. Here is Venezuela. We stand here, whole, complete, victorious and in battle towards the rest of the 21st century. We will be free, the rest does not matter. Long live the union of the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean! Until victory always! I say with Che, We will win!”, he highlighted.

“Alca, Alca, fuck it”

In context, the FTAA was a trade project proposed by the United States at the 1994 Summit of the Americas. The objective was to create a continental free trade area before 2005.

In 2005, Commander Hugo Chávez clearly explained the reasons for the Free Trade Area of the Americas and denounced that “the FTAA seeks to consolidate the economic power of the large transnational corporations and the elites that have dominated these countries for a long time.” time”.

“Alca, Alca, fuck it!” is the phrase that went down in history and that marked the future of the peoples of the South, united in the ideal promoted by Chávez, who, convinced of the strength of a new regional order, also stated on November 5, 2005 that “Al We, the people, defeated Alca.”
