From the Episcopal Curia in Matagalpa, Monsignor Rolando Álvarez celebrated this Monday, August 15, the Holy Eucharist on the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
The religious said that “the assumption of the most holy Virgin Mary into heaven body and soul comes from that great mystery of God’s love for us and with her”.

He stressed that today is celebrated “the triumph of Christ by whose merits she was guarded from all sin and original stain.” In addition, she affirmed that on this date “the triumph of the Church over evil and sin is remembered, since she – the Virgin Mary – is the first fruit of the Church, she is the first fruit of God’s grace upon us” .
The bishop, who has been locked up for 12 days by orders of the Ortega dictatorship, maintained that “it is not the infernal dragon who has the last word, but Christ who defeats death and sin, that death that will be the last enemy defeated and with the triumph of Christ, the Church and the Virgin we understand that all of us triumph over sin, death, iniquity, adversity, difficulty».
“From here springs our serene joy, our inner peace and our incorruptible and unshakable hope in the triumph of the Risen One over darkness, sin, death, iniquity. That hope of the empty tomb, because we do not have to look among the dead for the one who is alive, he has risen, truly he has risen », he remarked.

Monsignor Álvarez called to continue praying for him and for the priests and laity who accompany him in the Episcopal Curia, where they are being held. “Keep praying for us, asking the Blessed Virgin of the Assumption and count on our simple prayers,” he concluded.
After the 12 days of de facto jail imposed by Ortega against Álvarez, the Police have not commented on the matter, they have only counted on the offenses against the Church by the vice-dictator of Nicaragua, Rosario Murillo.
