The street Antonio María Ramírez, in Parque Rodo, became pedestrian since last Thursday, August 11reported the Municipality of Montevideo (IM).

The initiative was carried out through the citizen participation platform Montevideo Decide. There, residents of the area presented the proposal to reduce traffic in the neighborhood.

In this way, vehicles are no longer allowed to circulate on that road.

“Within the framework of this modification, 27 mobile wooden platforms were installed on this street that function as spaces for resting pedestrians and holding cultural events,” the administration reported on its website. With these platforms, it is intended to promote the children’s play area and the activity that takes place on Sundays for the fair that takes place on Julio Herrera and Reissig avenues, the statement detailed.
