Accountability: 90% coalition agreement; vote on wednesday

Accountability: 90% coalition agreement; vote on wednesday

The legislators of the coalition consider the agreement on Accountability to be 90% advanced. They will try to vote on the articles on Wednesday in committee and it is expected that in the next few hours the ministers Fernando Mattos and Javier García will go to the bench to negotiate a couple of issues.

The president of the Budget Commission integrated with the Treasury of Deputies, the nationalist Álvaro Rodríguez Hunter, told Diario La R that “we were able to (give) a first look at all the articles”, during the meeting of the legislators of the multicolored coalition.

“In 90%, we agree. What remains is to work on the differences, on the issues where it is already known that there is a difference. In these two days, we are going to try to articulate to get the votes of the coalition”.

-What are the issues on which there is no agreement?, asked Diario La R.

-”There is no definition about it. If we are working, we are working on issues such as (the elimination of the) additional to the (University) Solidarity Fund, we are working on what has to do with the media law”; replied the legislator.

Rodríguez Hunter added that “there is a definition to redirect resources to have more items for science.”

“We are still seeing where these resources can be obtained from and where they are going to be available within the different organizations that have to do with science.”

-Can it be said that the media law is complicated?

“The media law is complicated, we are working on the addition to the Solidarity Fund, but we cannot say that it is complicated when we only have the different positions of the parties and it remains to be seen if we reach a common position,” said the representative.

-Minister Omar Paganini proposed to eliminate the Media Law and go on to be governed by the previous legislation until a new norm is drafted.

-”Exactly, the project that came from the Executive Power reestablished some articles and the media law was repealed in general terms; that is the position of the National Party that we are supporting”.

“We have different positions in the coalition and for that reason, we must work on the issue,” he asserted.

Rodríguez Hunter announced at the close that the meeting of the coalition legislators was ending and that a vote will be taken on Wednesday.

Deputy Àlvaro Viviano (Por La Patria) informed Diario la R that ministers Mattos and García will go to the caucus of coalition legislators this afternoon to negotiate issues. Rodríguez Hunter also did not rule out consultations with the economic team.
