During the days of Friday, July 29 and Saturday, July 30, the first meeting of mayors of the National Party took place in the department of Maldonado.
At the opening, the presence of the Secretary of the Presidency of the Republic, Álvaro Delgado, and María de Lima, Coordinator of Decentralization of the Planning and Budget Office (OPP), both representing the national government, stood out.
María de Lima, speaking, was particularly moved and stated “we dreamed of this day, we dreamed of a National Party that recognizes the work of mayors and councilors from all over the country, you know that from the place we occupy Currently, we permanently work together with you so that the efforts that you have been carrying out throughout the country are recognized.”
For his part, Álvaro Delgado reviewed the improvements in terms of decentralization, maintaining that the budget for the municipalities increases by 35% in the five-year period, and highlighted the role of María de Lima as Coordinator of Decentralization, “it was one of the great successes of the president of the republic, put the person who knows the most about municipalities and decentralization to work day by day with the mayors».
Among other authorities, ministers Luis Alberto Heber, Javier García, Martín Lema and José Luis Falero participated, as well as senators Jorge Gandini, Sergio Botana and Gustavo Pénades.
The closing of the event in which more than 50 of the 90 nationalist mayors participated was in charge of the Vice President of the Republic Esc. Beatriz Argimón.
