This Thursday the citizen Fernando Mendoza was arrested to be charged by the Public Ministry (PM), for animal abuse, a fact registered in the Portuguesa state.
The information was released by the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, who detailed, on his account on the social network Twitter, that the citizen with the surname Mendoza will be charged after “throwing a rabbit into the Unellez lagoon so that was devoured by four alligators.
Likewise, Saab indicated that the citizen Leonar González, who also participated in the event that caused damage to the animal, is yet to be arrested.

Both citizens are accused of the crimes of “prohibition of doing justice for oneself and animal abuse,” the attorney general emphasized.
Saab reiterated that the Public Ministry, under his management, assumes the commitment to defend animals as living beings, as well as all vulnerable beings in society.
“The Public Ministry @MinpublicoVEN under our management assumes the defense of animals as living beings and the environment: as well as the #protection of [email protected] vulnerable sectors of Venezuelan society,” he specified.
Battle against animal abuse

Call for laws to protect animals
Regarding the subject, it is important to point out that this Thursday the Mission snowyon behalf of the Animalist Movement of the New Era, made an urgent call to adapt the legal instruments that protect the rights of animals, through a statement in which they exhort to reflect on the recent events in which it was murdered a pet community using a vehicle.
Also taking as a reference the commemoration of the International Street Dog Day, celebrated on Wednesday, the Movement raised the need to update the legal system on the subject.
It becomes “necessary to adapt the entire legal system that “protects” them, since violence is not directed exclusively at pets, but at all species of animals, wild or domestic, fish, birds, all animals deserve a legal system in accordance with their condition as living beings,” the statement said.
