“Chronic diseases are preventable, but it is necessary to change lifestyles, eat healthy, exercise, reduce and avoid foods with a high amount of salt and sugar, as well as the consumption of alcohol and tobacco. Therefore, he urged the population to modify their eating habits to prevent complications and that is why these orientation and education sessions are being carried out to raise awareness among the population,” Rivera assured.
In addition, the official drew attention to the excessive use of cell phones that is causing depression and other illnesses.
Leading the thirteenth version of the “Health Route: Change your Lifestyle” in the province in the city of Higüey, La Altagracia province, Rivera explained that people spend more time using cell phones than thinking about their health for which he suggested to have the willingness to spend at least one percent of the time on the mobile to have their routine check-ups of the breasts, the prostate in the case of men, to prevent cancer and other diseases.

Similarly, the Traffic Accident Death Reduction Program (PREMAT) offered talks on road safety and donated protective helmets for cyclists and motorists.
