Colombia he said goodbye this Tuesday to the dream of qualifying for Qatar World Cup 2022although he was left with the good taste of defeating Venezuela by 0-1 on the last day of the South American qualifiers, in which Peru established itself in fifth place and will play the playoff against a team from Asia.

The tension and pressure of the decisive match was marked from the opening whistle with two teams in need of this victory: Colombia to continue the fight for a place in Qatar and Vinotinto, although last in the table, to raise the morale of the team and the fanaticized

The goal that defined the victory of the coffee growers against Vinotinto, one that they had not obtained as visitors in Venezuela since 1996, was scored in a repeated penalty at the end of the first half, charged by James Rodríguez with a shot with the left on the right side of the goal.

The Venezuelan Wuilker Fariñez stopped a first shot by Rodríguez, but the referee invalidated the play due to invasion of the area and ordered the repetition that sealed the victory of the Colombians.

Between minutes 7 and 11, both teams marked ground with two shots that, although unsuccessful, showed the capacity of both teams.

Salomón Rondón offered a shot in the 7th minute with his right foot from the right side of the inside of the area, after an assist from Nahuel Ferraresi, and immediately gave the Colombians another scare with a new header from the right side of the goal that did not pass the goalkeeper.

In the 11th minute, the coffee growers brought fear to the local goal with a missed shot by Luis Sinisterra, which was assisted by Rafael Borré. From then on, the dangerous situations for both teams were numerous, but the Venezuelans, at Cachamay, almost sang the first goal in minute 34 when the star of Vinotinto, Rondón, finished off with a shoe from the center of the area that the Colombian defenses could not contain, but that went very high.

At the close of the first half, Colombia went to the locker room with a goal in their favour, but with Peru already scoring two goals, which they maintained until the end of the match, against Paraguay, which marked their farewell to the World Cup.

In the second half, both teams began to show more fatigue, although Colombia had two more opportunities to increase the score with shots from Luis Díaz and Sinistierra and Venezuela others to tie with two shots from Savarino, but in the end neither could finish.

In this way, Colombia and Venezuela say goodbye to the qualification for Qatar 2022 that will be held between November 21 and December 18 next.
