The Minister of Social Development, Juan Zabaleta, affirmed this Tuesday that from that ministry “decisions are being made to care for the beneficiaries” of plans such as the Boost Work and ratified the Government’s intention to reconvert this program into genuine employment.
“We are making decisions to care for the beneficiaries who, without generalizing, are suffering,” Zabaleta said in declarations to the press at the door of the ministry, after a meeting he held with the chief of staff, Juan Manzur, to follow up on the Work Promotion plan.
In this context, the official confirmed that “there are not going to be more highs of the Work Potential, as was already decided in the month of February” and that the idea now is “to take care of the beneficiary for which, together with the public universities, we are going to ask each one what they are doing and that they can choose in which productive unit they want to work”.
In the past week, The Ministry of Social Development advanced with two instruments to improve the operation of the Empower Work program: On the one hand, it incorporated the universities in the evaluation of its application and, on the other hand, it established a Charter of Obligations and Rights with guidelines to prevent “improper management” in its execution by social organizations.
With both measures announced this week, The portfolio led by Zabaleta seeks to optimize the operation of the program that represents the Government’s great commitment to reconvert social plans into genuine employment.
The Empower Work is a tool developed by the Government to promote socio-productive, socio-community, socio-labor projects and educational completion, in order to “promote full social inclusion and economic autonomy for people who are in a situation of vulnerability”.
Meanwhile, regarding the new protest called for Wednesday by social organizations, Zabaleta said that “they are methodologies and rights within the framework of democracy” but asked “not to bother the lives of Argentines who walk down the street to go to work.” .
“We have a work table with the opposition social leaders. It is in everyone’s interest that Argentina recovers and has a future. There is a strong investment in public works and we will continue to invest in social policies. The State will continue to invest in every Argentine who needs it,” he concluded.
For its part, Manzur assured that the Government is “respectful of all popular expressions”, referring to the piquetero demonstrations, and stressed that they are going to “remain open to dialogue” and “bringing positions closer together and making the effort so that all the help is present.”
Speaking to the press after the meeting, the chief of staff maintained about the piquetero marches: “We are very respectful of all popular expressions and in that sense we are going to remain open to dialogue, as we always have been, agreeing, bringing positions closer together and making all the efforts of the State so that all the aid is present”.
Likewise, before another query, he expressed that the “evaluation is that in a complex, difficult context of alteration of all international reference values, fundamentally in prices, a great task is being carried out.”
“That is why -he emphasized- I want to highlight the great work, the great task that Minister Zabaleta is doing together with his entire team of collaborators and say that we are going to continue redoubling all the effort.”
Regarding the meeting with Zabaleta, he explained that it was held in Social Development because the minister has all the information available. “We have been seeing the screens, all the documentation,” Manzur told the press.
In that sense, he maintained that they were “talking about proposals for the future” and added: “You know that Minister Zabaleta has a great territorial approach throughout all of Argentina with the implementation of important infrastructure works that have to do with the quality of life”.
“It is important to take care of the most vulnerable social groups and in this context we have analyzed and we will continue working with Minister Zabaleta and his team of collaborators,” added the official.
