The United States sanctioned a dozen prosecutors from the Daniel Ortega regime. The list is headed by prosecutor Yubelca Pérez. The State Department notes that Pérez “undermined democratic processes or institutions by exercising prosecutorial discretion to bring trumped-up charges to imprison regime opponents in the run-up to national elections.”
She is part of the group of prosecutors that formed the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo to accuse the demonstrators who have protested since April 2018. Pérez, along with other officials from the Public Ministry, are the ones in charge of inventing the crimes for which they are accused. in jail more than 190 political prisoners.
A former prosecutor, on condition of anonymity, told Article 66 that Yubelca Pérez arrived at the Public Ministry in 2004 as an intern at an office headed by the Granada prosecutor, Juan Barrios. His job in that place was to resolve the judicial default of the tax file, the source said.

Another former prosecutor who worked very closely with her confided in Article 66 that she “feels proud” to be part of the group close to Guido and to be one of the “trusted prosecutors.” The source assured that Yubelca Pérez is an arrogant person, with a very bad character who has been characterized by mistreating the victims.

Both former prosecutors agree that when there is democracy in the country, all officials who have been involved in these cases of political persecution must face administrative and criminal proceedings for their actions against the people of Nicaragua.
