Starting this Thursday, YPF increased the price of its fuels by 4% on average, this as part of the agreement signed with the national government to include oil companies in its Careful Prices program.
This way, the state company It joined its competitors Shell and Axion, which had raised the sale values of their fuels on Wednesday. This is the third increase made YPF within the agreement with the Government.
last november YPF and the other national oil companies set fuel increase ceilings within 120 days. In this sense, gasoline and diesel rose 4% in December, 4% in January and 4% in February. Meanwhile, in March the increase will be 3.8%.
The Government’s measure is part of the strategies that it advances to contain inflation, since by increasing the price of fuels, increases are also generated in food and other items, which each month affects the general index, which in January was at 6%.
Although the agreement will expire in March, for now the Government has not specified if it will be extended, which would be possible, since with other sectors of the economy the program lasted until June.
This in order to lower inflation to 3% in April and achieve an annual accumulated rate of 60%, which represents a great challenge, since despite the efforts made, the price escalation has not been contained until now.
The new increase is in force from this Thursday in all service stations in the country of the oil company. During 2022 super gasoline increased 67%, premium 77% and diesel 91%, that is, they remained below inflation, while premium diesel increased 122%.
