The femicide against Esther Damaris Martinez Alaniz28 years old, has impacted the inhabitants of the West of the country by the way in which they ended their lives.
She was originally from the Cuitanca Sur region, located approximately 3.6 kilometers west of downtown Chichigalpa, in Chinandega, where there is outrage over the crime.
Citizens woke up waiting for the authorities to report on the capture of the two individuals who allegedly attacked her, including an alleged relative, considered, according to preliminary versions, as the main perpetrator.
The woman was found lifeless, with signs of strangulation apparently with a rope, after 8:00 in the morning on Thursday, January 5, 90 meters from the Flores Rojas School, a rural area in the La Cuitanca Sur region.
The Catholic Observatory for the Right to Decide reported at least 67 femicides in Nicaragua in 2022 and the crime against Martínez Alaniz would be the first femicide of the year in its records.
They capture an alleged accomplice of femicide
This Thursday afternoon, the news circulated indicating the capture of one of the alleged perpetrators, a subject known by the alias “El mono”, who would have acted together with a man identified as Claudio Martinezsupposed relative of the young woman.
About “El mono” it was said, unofficially, that he is an antisocial of advanced age, originally from the Marvin Salazar Cast.

According to preliminary versions, Martínez had been harassing her for a long time. She always rejected him. Days ago, he had stolen a good amount of bananas and an appliance, for this reason she had left the house on December 25, where they had given her a lodging because of her kinship. On Wednesday, January 4, neighbors saw him at the house.
The girl left minutes after 5:00 on Thursday morning to go to her business as a merchant, the way she earned her living. The authorities found her face down hours later, already lifeless and with signs of violence on her body.
After the medical examination at the scene, it was confirmed that his death was the result of mechanical asphyxiation. His body was transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML), as part of the investigation.

The young woman leaves two children, 10 and 8 years old respectively, in orphanage. It is expected that in the next few hours, the authorities will bring those responsible for the crime before a judge.
