The 11-year-old girl who was abused and pregnant by one of her relatives in Yapacaní, is admitted to a hospital in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, where her case is handled with absolute secrecy as determined by justice. The Ombudsman’s Office only reported that the minor’s rights were “protected,” while the minor’s defense attorney declared that he unofficially learned that there had been an “early pregnancy.”

“The Constitutional Chamber, at the time of issuing the ruling, requested a special reserve. At least until Monday we will not give any information. The only thing I can tell you is that a protection was generated regarding the rights of the girl ”, he declared to Digital Page Seven the Ombudsman, Nadia Cruz.

The minor lived an ordeal of continuous rapes since February of this year by the father of her stepfather. The previous week, she was transferred to the Percy Boland Hospital in Santa Cruz to interrupt the pregnancy, but the mother changed her mind and desisted from that request, after the Catholic Church intervened. Later the justice determined that a multidisciplinary commission evaluate this case and the advisability of a legal abortion and later it was learned that she was admitted to the French Hospital.

When the Ombudsman was asked about the versions of an interruption of pregnancy, she reiterated: “Out of respect for the issue of privacy and confidentiality that the Court itself requested, regardless of the media, no detail will be given regarding it. because it would be a way of violating their right to confidentiality ”.

Cruz added that in this case “the only thing that can be said is that the Court, in addition to granting guardianship, at the time of executing the ruling, protection was generated for her. According to the last report they gave us yesterday (Friday) afternoon, his health is safe, he’s fine ”. He confirmed that, by the same court decision, he was in a hospital.

The lawyer for the girl and her mother, Néstor Higa, stated that five days ago he lost all contact with them. “The mother does not answer her cell phone anymore, they even took her phone. They were cut off. That is not legal, it is abusive as they always do ”, he affirmed.

He confirmed that the minor was six months pregnant. “They were transferred to the Hospital (…) and it turns out that we do not know more than some things that are not confirmed. We know unofficially that there was an early delivery and the baby had been delivered early. We don’t know if it’s true or not, ”he said.

Higa mentioned that one of the doctors explained that the girl could give birth at seven months of gestation as long as they do a lung evaluation. “If they didn’t do that it was a sign that they would want to take the baby’s life,” he said.
