Eight days have passed, after the first of September—the dictatorship exhibited in the Managua courts the political prisoner Yader Parajon Gutierrezafter more than a year captive in the Directorate of Judicial Assistance (DAJ), in Managua.

In an interview to Article 66, a relative of Parajón expressed «how sad it is to see him in images, how skinny he is, it was not the body he had before. I have not been able to see him since he was arrested, but it is obvious that he is not having a good time ».

“His health is not good, but what happens is that one cannot speak at all because later they attack him,” added the brother of the political prisoner. He also stated that it was “glad to see him with his head held high, because he has not done anything wrong, he is innocent; what he did was claim and demand justice for the death of our other brother».

He also said that as a family they hope that Yader Parajón will be released. “May God allow us life and have the joy of seeing him free, because there is no evil that lasts 100 years, and not only that he is released but all the more than 200 political prisoners,” he expressed encouraged.

For his part, Miguel Parajón, father of the prisoner of conscience, said that although he has managed to see him 10 times in “El Chipote”, it was hard to see him “as a criminal” because he has not done anything.

«My son is a psychology student, they made him spend his career, but there he is resisting and with his head held high. As a father, it was sad to see him skinnier, but always with his head held high and firm, although he is also afraid of him because he knows that the punishments are severe.

Parajón (father) said that he will continue fighting until he sees his son free. Sometimes I lose hope, but then I ask God to enlighten the rulers and to set him free because they know well that he has done nothing wrong ».

The activist and member of the Unión Democrática Renovadora (Unamos) was captured by the Police of the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo on September 4, 2021. The young man was trying to leave Nicaragua through the border with Honduras, in El Guasaule.

He was accused by the Public Ministry, at the service of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, for the alleged crime of “conspiracy to undermine national integrity”, protected by the controversial Law 1055 or Law of Sovereignty and for violating Law 1042, Law Cybercrime Special for spreading “fake news.”

The Thirteenth Criminal Trial Judge, Ulisa Yahoska Tapia Silva, sentenced Parajón to 10 years in prison for the alleged crime and prohibited him from holding public office for the same period.

With the hearing of Parajón, the series of political trials against opponents of the dictatorship began. He is currently part of the more than 200 opponents whom the dictatorship attacked for having protested and demanded justice.
