According to the National Aqueduct and Sewer Institute (IDAAN) this situation will cause a decrease in the supply of drinking water in some sectors of the province of Panama.
The low points of the city of Panama will be affected by low water pressure and in the high points such as: via Tumba Muerto, via Transístmica, Clayton, La Locería, Betania, Los Ángeles, Miraflores, Altos de Miraflores, Dos Mares, Villa of La Fuente 1 and 2, Santa María, Hato Pintado, San Francisco, Carrasquilla, Bella Vista, Altos de Panamá, Río Abajo, Parque Lefevre, Pueblo Nuevo, El Cangrejo and El Dorado, will be without water supply.
In addition, the high points of the district of San Miguelito, Panama North, from Las Cumbres to Buena Vista, and all the remote sectors of the network that comprise Panama East from Pedregal to Siesta de Tocumen.
Despite the inconveniences, IDAAN assured that as a contingency plan they will supply drinking water to hospitals, polyclinics and health centers through tanker trucks. They will also expand the coverage of the Miraflores water treatment plant to guarantee supply to the Dr. Arnulfo Arias Madrid Metropolitan Hospital Complex, the Santa Fe Hospital, the Santo Tomás Hospital, the National Hospital and the Oncology Hospital.
