With temperatures that exceeded 35 degrees this Friday in the middle of the country, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) declared a heat wave for the city of Buenos Aires and twelve provinces, with peaks above 44 degrees in some locations, while the isolated rains predicted for this Friday afternoon will not make the heat subside and some coolness is expected only for Tuesday morning.

Due to the extreme temperature values ​​that have persisted for days, the SMN declared a heat wave in the north of the country for large sectors of Salta and Jujuy, the north of Corrientes, the south of Misiones, part of La Rioja and Catamarca.

The City of Buenos Aires, sectors of eastern San Juan, northern Mendoza and San Luis, a large part of Córdoba, southern and northern Santa Fe and some towns in the center of the province of Buenos Aires are also under a heat wave. Several locations in Corrientes, Santa Fe, Entre Ríos, San Luis, Chaco, Córdoba, Buenos Aires, La Rioja, Tucumán, Misiones, Jujuy, Catamarca and the City of Buenos Aires also exceeded 35 degrees in the 2:00 p.m. report.

Meanwhile, the highest thermal sensation was registered in the Chaco cities of Resistencia, with 49.4 degrees, and in Presidency Roque Sáenz Peña with 48.1.

Red alert for CABA and ten provinces

Due to the intensity of the heat, the SMN maintains the city of Buenos Aires and towns in ten central and northern provinces under a red alert, the maximum established.

Forecast for the next few days

Regarding the forecast for the next few days, Cindy Fernández indicated that “the coolest thing we are going to experience will be next Tuesday morning.”
