The traditional drink of the carrulim in the Paseo de los Yuyos of Market 4 in Asunción.
With seven drinks of a cane, rue and lemon alcohol cocktail, Paraguayans welcomed the fateful month of August on Monday and toasted good luck and health for the rest of the year.
The “carrulim”, as this drink is known locally, serves to “drive away the bad vibes and to avoid sudden death, as was previously believed,” Clemente Cáceres, cultural promoter of the Municipality of Asunción and one of the those in charge of talking about this tradition in a store installed in a square in the center of the capital.
