According to data from the Argentine Tourism Observatory (OAT), which acts under the purview of the Argentine Chamber of Tourism (CAT), during the last Winter Break5.2 million national tourists traveled to the interior of the country.
The figure represents a 10% increase in hotel occupancy, in relation to the levels registered in the season of 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic, which, in turn, means that this year, in the Winter Break a new record in tourism was broken.
According to the report, the most chosen destinations to spend the Winter Break were the provinces of Jujuy, Salta, Catamarca, Santiago del Estero and Mendoza. Likewise, there was a high demand for employment in the towns of Puerto Iguazú, San Carlos de Bariloche, San Martín de los Andes, Villa Carlos Paz and Tandil.
According to the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME) thanks to the high level of tourists an economic impact was generated that exceeded $147 billionwhich favors job creation and economic recovery in each of the provinces.
From the OAT, in addition, they indicated that more than 420 thousand tourists from abroad entered the country during the season, which generated expenses of more than USD 344 million in the tourism sector.
In addition, according to estimates, the arrival of a million people in Argentina is expected in the remainder of winter; which in turn forecasts significant tourism growth for the remainder of the year.
In this regard, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Matías Lammens, indicated that “as happened in the summer season, in the long weekends of Carnival, Easter and the last of June, We once again exceeded the tourist movement figures of the pre-pandemic. It is no longer recovery, it is tourism growth throughout the country“.

According to data from the Buenos Aires Ministry of Production, during the season2,553,246 visitors chose the main tourist destinations in the province of Buenos Aires to spend time off.
