Members of the High Complexity Crimes Investigation Division (Diviac) of the Police and the Special Team against Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office went to arrest in parallel to Yenifer Paredessister-in-law of President Pedro Castillo, and his friend, businessman Hugo Espino. The arrests took place in the Government Palace and in the Puente Piedra district, respectively.
Why was the arrest of Yennifer Paredes ordered?
Jennifer Paredes is investigated by the special team of prosecutors led by Marita Barreto. They accuse her of the alleged crime of influence peddling. As it is recalled, the preliminary diligence was arranged after the “Fourth Power” program made public a video in which she appears offering sanitation works to residents of the San Miguel district in Cajamarca.

Why was Hugo Espino’s arrest ordered?
In said video, the president’s sister-in-law wears a vest from the company JJM Espino Engineering & Construction SAC, whose legal representative is her friend, the businessman Hugo Espino, who was arrested along with his sister Angie. Both are also investigated for influence peddling because their companies won million-dollar bids in the provinces of Cajatambo (Lima) and Anguía (Cajamarca).
Let us remember that, during the government of Pedro Castillo, JJM Espino Engineering & Construction SAC won the tender for the remodeling of the Santiago Antúnez de Mayolo school in Cajatambo. Said work was awarded for more than 3.8 million soles and should have been completed in March of this year, a term that was not met due to the fact that the project has not been completed to date.
For its part, the company Destcon Engineers & Architects SACof which she is the manager Angie Espino, was selected by the Municipality of Anguía for the work of improvement and expansion of the drinking water and sanitation system of different localities of the jurisdiction. This work is valued at 3 million soles.
