Which party would Uruguayans vote for if the elections were held today?

If the 2024 elections were today, 43% of the population would vote for the broad front (FA) and 38% to the governing coalition, according to a survey by Equipos Consultores broadcast this Monday on Underlined, Channel 10.

Of that total of 38% for the government coalition, 28% corresponds to the National Party, 7% to the Colorado Party, 2% to the Independent Party and 1% to the People’s Party. On the other hand, 1% responded that they would vote for the Radical and Intransigent Ecologist Party (PERI), 1% for other parties, while 12% were undecided and another 5% said they would vote blank or annulled.

The consultant concluded, with these data in view, that “political sympathies by party have remained stable in the last month.”

The survey confirms that the values ​​are similar to what was recorded by the pollster in the month of April.

“The Broad Front grows one point, the Colorado Party 2, PERI appears with 1% that it did not register the previous month, and the undecided and those who say they would vote blank or null decrease a little,” the survey says, although it clarifies that “all changes mentioned are within the margin of error of measurement”.

The April survey confirms the growth of the Broad Front verified in the last semester, holding a level above 40%”, although the latest survey “also shows stability within the government coalitionwhere the parties maintain their relative positions”.

Who are the undecided?

According to the study carried out by Equipos Consultores, the undecided “are more women than men(…) more from the interior than from Montevideo” and “come more from past voters of the Multicolor Coalition (34%) than the Broad Front (15%)”.

Regarding ideology, “the undecided consider themselves to be mostly from the “center” (60%), and only minority sectors have an ideological orientation to the left or the right.”

This report was prepared on the basis of a survey carried out by Equipos Consultores between June 2 and 16, 2023 from surveys carried out in person (face to face) and telephone surveys carried out through cell phones. The face-to-face surveys reached 704 cases, while the telephone ones were 503, which makes up a total of 1,204 cases. The maximum expected margin of error for a survey of 1,207 cases is +- 2.8%, within a 95% confidence interval. The question was: as you know, in 2024 there will be national elections to elect a president and parliamentarians. If the elections were today, which party would you vote for?
