A few weeks ago, UTE carried out an opinion poll among some of its clients where it asked, among other things, whether they would be interested in paying a fixed monthly fee for the electricity consumption they make in their homes.
The results of this consultation showed that more than 60% of the clients answered that it would be beneficial for them to have a fixed fee throughout the year,
The president of the entity, Silvia Emaldi, affirmed this Tuesday at a press conference that this product will be available to interested clients from next April.
“Based on the design that is being defined, all the computing part and the different information systems are being adapted” for its implementation, Emaldi said in this regard.
Adherence to this rate will be voluntary. In this way, it seeks to contribute to improving the planning of the home economy.
How would it work in practice? Roughly speaking, the average consumption of the last 12 months of each client is taken and the monthly amount to be paid over a year is calculated. Then at the end of that period of time the calculation is compared with the actual consumption.
If a difference corresponds, it is adjusted on the amount to be paid the following year. That is, if less was paid than spent, the difference is paid. This could be, for example, spread over new invoices. And if more than what was spent was paid, the balance in favor of the client’s account is credited. In this way, a residential customer would pay a fixed and personalized monthly amount.
