Given the result of the last Agricultural Outlook 2021-2030 report, by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), released at a critical time, according to the organizations, forecasts future trends in agriculture and food for the next ten years in Latin America.

According to the report, according to the growth and holding of per capita income, in the region of Latin America and the Caribbean it is expected to be 1.5% per year, likewise, for the specific case of Colombia, an annual increase of 3.1% is forecast. Thus, among the OECD countries, the highest growth is expected for Colombia, followed by Turkey and Korea.

According to the OECD and the FAO, it is estimated that the supply of palm oil will increase at a rate of 1.3% per year, worldwide. For Colombia, it is estimated that by 2030, the country will produce 2.0 million tons, developing production niches with sustainability certifications, positioning the region with the possibility of reaching larger export markets.
PRODUCTION AND TRADE PROJECTIONS
Taking into account Colombia as one of the countries with the greatest variety of food production, according to the report, the projections of production and trade of the different products could contain ups and downs in production matters.
Wheat is one of the most consumed cereals in Colombia, for its derived products such as bread, pasta and biscuits. According to the Fedemol Chamber of the National Association of Entrepreneurs of Colombia (Andi), the country imports 1.9 million tons of wheat a year, from countries like Canada.
According to the report, the average estimate for 2018-2020 in terms of production was 4,000 tons, with regard to the calculation for 2030, it is expected that cereal production will reach 6,000, which would represent an increase of 50%.
For corn, according to the OECD and the FAO, in the country, the average estimate for 2018-2020 reached 1.4 million tons, forecasting for 2030 to reach 1.7 million tons produced, increasing by 16%. the productions.
Regarding rice production, for 2018-2020, 1.8 million tons were estimated, while by 2030 it is projected to reach 2.0 million tons, increasing by 12%, according to the organizations.
Compared to the projections for vegetable oils, in 2018-20, the production of vegetable oils reached 1.8 million tons, however, the estimates made for 2030 project at least 2.3 million, increasing by 22%.
In the case of sugar in 2018-2020, 2.2 million tons produced were established, however, in order to move forward, a production of 2.4 million tons is estimated for the next 10 years, rising 9.4% .
For the protein sector, according to the report, the projections for 2030 of meat are estimated to reach 3.2 million tons in the next ten years, increasing 13% compared to previous years.
For pork, the production of 517,000 tons (24%) is expected, as opposed to chicken (21%) which is estimated to reach 2.0 million tons.
In the production of fresh dairy products, it is established that in the coming years, the sector will reach 6.4 million tons, increasing by 31%, as for the production of milk, which would exceed 5.7 million tons in the estimated average of 2018-2020 to 7.3 million tons, by 2030, increasing by 28%.
