The government of Alberto Fernández announced a new regime of segmentation of residential subsidies for public gas and electric power services. The provision was enshrined in Decree 332/2022 and published in the Official Gazette on Thursday.
The segmentation Its objective is that the values of electrical energy are reasonable and susceptible to the criteria of justice and distributive equity. This process It will make it possible to identify 10% of the users who have the greatest ability to pay, who will then pay the full rate.
The Ministry of Economy explained that the holders of the services will have to register and sign an Affidavit to continue with the subsidized rate if it corresponds to them. With the segmentationfor those who are not holders, the figure of “Residential User of the Service” was created to facilitate the subsidy request.
Applicants will have to complete a simple access digital form with the attention of the distributors of the ANSES (National Social Security Administration). Through the established methodology, families’ ability to pay will be evaluated based on their socioeconomic conditions, as long as they are verifiable.
After analyzing the requests, it will begin debugging through the formation of three levels, according to the payment capacity of each household, as explained by the Treasury. The authorities detailed what characteristics must be met by those who will pay the full cost of gas and electricity.

According to segmentationthose who have net monthly income greater than a value equivalent to three and up to five Total Basic Baskets, that is, about 330 thousand pesos, according to INDEC (National Institute of Statistics and Censuses).
