This Monday, May 13, marked a milestone in the history of gas stations in Chile, since a renowned gas station began its transformation. Petrobras, of Brazilian origin, began to say goodbye to the country to make way for its new identity: Aramco. However, this change does not imply a total closure, but rather a modification in the name and facade of the stations.
The transition began on March 1, when the Saudi Arabian state service station, Aramco, acquired 100% of Esmax Distribucion SpA, a company that operated under the Petrobras license in Chile. Since then, service stations that previously carried the Petrobras name prepared to adopt the Aramco brand.
This change not only implies a new name, but also a renewal in the image and facade of the service stations. The stations that were previously known as Spacio 1 will now be called Aramco Stop, and they will undergo modifications to their infrastructure to adapt to the standards of the new brand.
The first gas station under the Aramco brand in Chile, it was inaugurated on Monday, May 13, at 9200 Prince of Wales Avenue, in the commune of La Reina, Metropolitan Region. This branch marks the beginning of Aramco’s expansion in the national territory, with plans to reach various areas of the country.
Approximately 300 service stations that operated under the Petrobras name are expected to be renamed Aramco in Chile. This rebranding process will be carried out over a period of 24 months, until 2026, as announced by the CEO of Esmax, Carlos Larraín.
