The director of the Office for the Reorganization of Transportation (Opret), Rafael Antonio Santos Perez, reported that of the more than 420 properties that will be affected by the construction of the Line 2-C the Subway of Santo Domingo, an agreement has already been reached with half, some of which were paid.
He indicated that another 60 families will soon be affected and then work with what he calls “the largest”, which are the businesses installed on the entire margin of the duarte highway in the section of 6.5 kilometers from the entrance of The Alcarrizos up to kilometer 9.
“The big ones too, I have to say, that have been very receptive, many have businesses and some in chains, four and five businesses, many of them lose their business because they don’t have more space where they can reissue it, but most can be withdrawn at place where they should have done it originally, Indian.
He reported that many of the lands have legal problems because that part was a farm owned by Héctor Bienvenido (Negro) Trujillo (brother of the dictator Rafael L. Trujillo) and although some owners have their property title, others are within the right of way. He clarified that work has been done without taxation and those who wish have been given the opportunity to do their appraisals with professionals in the field and compare them with the “fair offers made to them.”
He recalled that what will be done in the duarte highway are two works: the subway and the marginal one that will have a free space of 18 meters, similar to the marginal one in Las Américas.
“Those that do not have titles or those that we are going to affect, for the most part, are within a right of way, the buildings when you anchor them, are not authorized by Public Works, which at that time was the one that authorized the construction, they are illegal constructions, although many of them are their own”, explained the official.
The director of the Opret reported that in about two weeks the 800-meter tunnel that will connect the María Montez station with the extension of the line 2-C and it is expected that in about six months the tunnel will be made.

The director of the Opret recognizes that some people will be affected by the construction work of the Subway and the marginal, but that will not be for long. He clarified that in the case of regular users of the duarte highway they will not be affected because the same traffic lanes will be maintained due to work being done on the part that will be released.
“We are not going to do magic, we are going to annoy the inhabitants there, they are undoubtedly going to have an annoyance, now it is a quick annoyance because each pile of that is done in two days and two days of inconvenience and they went to the other pile and they went to the other one after 25 meters and so, after doing the operations there are no big inconveniences”, said Santos Pérez.
He considered that where there could be some major inconvenience is at the entrance of The Alcarrizos if the proposal made to the Ministry of Public Works to make a tunnel that connects the multimodal or spaces where the Subwaythe cable car and the bus station with the Pantoja entrance, but that has not yet been defined.
