Walmart, BBVA, Grupo Modelo and other large companies pay more to the SAT

From the first year, with Margarita Ríos Farjat, passing through Raquel Buenrostro and now Antonio Martínez Dagnino, former general administrator of Large Taxpayers, the figures of the Tax Administration Service (SAT) reflect significant growth in tax collection for auditing legal entities with income of more than 1,567 million pesos per year.

From January-September 2018 to the same period in 2022, the collection from auditing acts on large taxpayers has grown 90.8%. Large taxpayers, who only represent 0.3% of the total, contribute 47% of the total taxes collected.

“Although voluntary compliance is preferred to inspection actions, the additional efforts have not relaxed, so that in January-September 2022, 866 large taxpayers were inspected, this is 79.3% more than in 2018”, refers the Tax and Management Report of the SAT for the third quarter.

What companies have paid?

According to SAT figures, there is a universe of 12,000 large taxpayers, of which 3,000 have already been reviewed, so there are still 9,000 to review.

Among the companies that have settled tax debts with the SAT, the following stand out: Walmart, BBVA México, Grupo Modelo, América Móvil, IBM, FEMSA and Grupo BAL.
