Volunteer Firefighters died in the middle of fighting a forest fire in Santa Juana

A volunteer firefighter died this afternoon in Santa Juana, Bío Bío region, while fighting the forest fire that is affecting the area. The official belonged to the Third Yobilo Fire Company and she was part of the four people who died when they were traveling in vehicles on the roads of the place.

The municipality of Coronel declared in a statement that “with extreme regret we regret to report the sensitive loss of Yessenia Muñoz, a volunteer from the 3rd Yobilo Fire Company, who this morning helped fight the fire that is developing in Santa Juana.”

They added “our deepest condolences to all her family and loved ones, especially her husband – who is also a firefighter volunteer – and her daughter.”

In addition, the municipality has already informed his family of the fact and made available “the necessary means to provide him with the necessary help at such a difficult time,” they indicated in the statement.
