Viva Aerobus announces flight to Havana from the new airport in Mexico

MIAMI, United States. – The airline Viva Aerobus announced this Wednesday that it will fly to Havana from next July 15, which makes the Mexican airline the first to operate international flights from the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), opened in March this year.

Viva Aerobus was already flying to Havana and other national destinations (Acapulco, Cancún, Oaxaca and Puerto Vallarta) from the Mexico City International Airport (AICM).

“Now we give you more options to fly to your favorite destinations! In addition to our routes from AICM, learn about our new routes departing from the Felipe Ángeles International Airport”, tweeted the airline this Wednesday.

For his part, the general director of the airline, Juan Carlos Zuazua, told the press that “with these new routes, which are added to those already in operation to Guadalajara and Monterrey from Felipe Ángeles, Viva Aerobus already has seven destinations from/to this airport”.

“In this way – he added – it becomes, today, the airline with the widest offer at this airport”, he said.

The growth of Viva Aerobus

Likewise, the Mexican official assured that “this increase in the offer of Viva Aerobus in the AIFA responds to the growing needs for air connectivity in the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico in order to provide passengers with a real low-cost alternative.”

“We see an attractive market opportunity to connect the capital of Mexico with tourist and beach destinations that are national and international benchmarks. And these new routes provide flight options, at even lower prices, so that more and more people can be transported from different points and safely, reliably and in the most modern planes in Mexico, ”he said.

The AIFA, inaugurated on March 21 after three years under construction, has faced criticism for operating only six domestic flights a day and one weekly international flight to Venezuela, according to the news agency EFE.

In addition, since its construction was proposed, it has faced questions from security specialists due to the risks of sharing airspace with the AICM.
