The feat was achieved during the dispute of one of the semifinals of the race. The athlete from Rio still participated in the big decision, but ended up in 8th position with a time of 7s21. The gold went to the Swiss Mujinga Kamundji (6s96). She was followed by Americans Mikiah Brisco (6s99) and Marybeth Sant-Price (7s04).

Brazil was also represented in the competition, this Friday, by other athletes. Samory Uiki, from Rio Grande do Sul, was ninth in the long jump event, reaching 7.87 meters. In the shot put, Lívia Avancini from Paraná played in the final, where she reached the 14th position, with 16.85 meters.

Another Brazilian in action this Friday was Alexsandro Melo, who finished the triple jump event in 11th place, with 16.07 meters.
