Violent day leaves eight people dead in Tuzantla, Michoacán

“Once the presence of armed vehicles was known here in Tuzantla, Civil Guard, Sedena and National Guard personnel went to this town to find the result of eight dead people,” the official told local media.

“It is being planned, patrolling will be maintained with the National Guard, with Sedena and the Civil Guard, from Zitácuaro to Tuzantla. Here is a facility of the then Michoacán police. It is proposed to put a National Guard detachment, ”he said.

The official explained that some criminal groups from the State of Mexico enter through Tuzantla.

The Attorney General of the State of Michoacán (FGE) later reported that it had started an investigation folder in relation to the homicide of eight people, which occurred this afternoon in the municipality of Tuzantla.

“At approximately 2:40 p.m., personnel from the Regional Prosecutor’s Office moved to the municipal seat of Tuzantla, where firearm detonations had been recorded,” the authority detailed.

“Upon arrival at the place, specifically in the square, the lifeless bodies of eight men were located, who had wounds caused by gunshots,” he added.

The Prosecutor’s Office reported that at the site, the expert staff located, fixed, collected and packed ballistic evidence that will be analyzed by experts.

After initiating the investigations, the bodies were transferred to the Forensic Medical Service so that the necropsy of law is carried out.

Videos circulating on networks show the presence of vehicles with armed people in the Michoacan municipality.

Along with the State of Mexico and Guanajuato, Michoacán tops the lists of states with the most reported homicides.

In 44 months of the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, there have been 127,162 violent deaths, of which 123,550 were intentional homicides and 3,612 femicides.

The accumulated number of intentional homicides between January and July adds up to 18,093 events, of which 8,843 (49%) are concentrated in Guanajuato, Michoacán, Baja California, the State of Mexico, Jalisco and Chihuahua.
