In the midst of the efforts to form the board of the Senate, a group of legislators paused in their work to sing “happy birthday” to the president of that instance, Andrónico Rodríguez.

A video recorded by Página Siete Digital shows the moment in which an official enters the Chamber of the Lower House with a cake. The senators sing and then ask Rodríguez to “bite” the cake and he agrees, but one of his colleagues manages to push the food towards his face, which generated some laughter.

The act lasted approximately two minutes and occurred in the interim of the second preparatory session convened in order to form commissions and committees for the 2021-2022 legislature.

Rodríguez was re-elected as president of the Senate for the second year in a row last week.

“Being re-elected as president of the Senate for the 2021-2022 legislature is a great responsibility that I assume with the commitment to work for the Homeland, seeking consensus that will strengthen our democracy and peaceful coexistence among Bolivians,” the legislator wrote on Twitter.
