[Video] Exciting pea shelling tournament in Corabastos

This week the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the emblematic Plaza de Corabastos in Bogotá was celebrated, of which the vast majority of Bogota citizens and many people from all over the country have heard. On July 20, 1972, what is considered the main collection center in the country was inaugurated.

This is one of the fundamental entities for the functioning of the national economy, since it moves between 5,000 and 7,000 tons of food daily that ends up on the table of many families.

Throughout the weekend, the merchants of Corabastos began to celebrate the 50th birthday of this market place. Merchants participated in different contests and shows, such as the shelled pea championship, an event that caught the attention of those who are not used to attending the celebration.

This was evidenced by a citizen, who recorded one of the competitions, in which four people are seen shelling peas at full speed. “Who would have imagined that tiktok would allow me to watch high-quality content, such as a pea sheller race in Corabastos”the user wrote.

Below is the video of the peculiar tournament.
