The McDonald’s fast food chain demands beef hamburgers made in Bolivia and different supermarkets in Peru sell “fine cuts” of the meat of this speciesthe Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Integration, Benjamín Blanco, informed the ABI.
In an interview, the government authority indicated that currently The main market for Bolivian beef is China; however, in 2022, the country also exported this product to countries of the Andean Community (CAN).
“It is already possible that the countries of the Andean Community, especially in Peru (you can) find Bolivian fine cuts of meat, vacuum packed in different supermarkets in Peru”, he highlighted.
But that’s not all, besides the Bolivian refrigerators also export frozen hamburgers to the international fast food marketing chain McDonald’s in Ecuador and Peru.
“McDonald’s Ecuador is using hamburgers produced in Bolivia, Mac Donald Peru is also using and We are working with Colombia to also be able to sell our frozen hamburgers”, he remarked.
Record in beef exports
The vice minister also reported that between January and November 2022, Bolivia reached a record in beef exports, reaching 123 million dollarscompared to the same period in 2021, when it reached 95 million dollars.
He emphasized that the national government prioritizes the supply of the meat product first in the domestic market and then authorizes the export of surpluses through quotas and certificates.
“Although this is required of refrigerators in order to export, having already fulfilled the quota, with the internal demanda, a record never before seen by our country of meat exports has been achieved”, he highlighted.
