The consequences of the election of the new ministerial cabinet of Pedro Castillo continue. After the appointment of the controversial Hernán Condori as head of the Minsa, the Deputy Minister of Health Gustavo Rosell De Almeida announced his departure from the sector. Through his Facebook account, the surgeon said goodbye to his work team.

“Ten months of intense work in the midst of a disastrous pandemic. I only have to thank the extraordinary team of the Minsa and all the health workers, Dr. Óscar Ugarte and Dr. Hernando Cevallos, who allowed me to join forces, ”he wrote.
The outgoing deputy minister held the position since April 1, 2021. He was appointed by former minister Oscar Ugarte and continued in office with Hernando Cevallos. It was the second time that he assumed this function, since he had already been Deputy Minister of Health in 2019 after the resignation of the doctor Neptalí Santillán.
Rosell De Almeida, with more than 20 years of experience as a medical professional, graduated as a surgeon from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima and as a Master of Public Health at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp (Belgium).
He was a consultant at the Pan American Health Organization and planner, supervisor and trainer in programs of the Ministry of Health such as the Control of STIs and HIV. He also served as General Director of Strategic Interventions in Public Health of the Minsa.
